This was some apparel design for a shirt promoting the community of Durham NC. The city is currently undergoing a drastic revitalization process and I wanted to capture the voice of the residents who feel it is very important to maintain the girtty character of the city.
The Hunter - Pencil drawing with digital color. I wanted to show the power of visual narrative and how it can be used without giving away the entire story. How a single moment is all you need to hook a person in and make them desperate to know more.
This is a poster I did for Taylor Nail, a talented musician from Winston Salem, NC. We worked together to design an image that captured the rustic americana feeling of his music and infuse it with a sence of imagination that would hint at the images of nature and the inner workings of the human machine talked about in his songs.
I wanted to try and capture the feeling I get when I am having a brainstorming session and I explore the different avenues of inspiration I subscribe to. This piece has stood as something of an avatar for my imagination at times. Plus it's just fun.
My love of old videogames is riveld only by my love of animals... and improvised combat based vehicles apparently. This was one of my early attempts at 8 bit art and it has sence become a favorite hobbie of mine.
This is something of a title piece for the printed goods business I started with my wife, Catawampus Press. It is actually a loosly reimagined depiction of our Home and base of Operations.
Much the antithesis of "The Hunter" I wanted to see if it was possible to tell an entire story in one image. This is nothing that hasn't been done before but I wanted to see what would happen when i attempted it. The result was this 4 part story of a young adventurer traveling across the land to a dungeon found in a grave yard. Once inside that dungeon he had to slay a dragon in order to finally find the treasure. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed working on this piece.
This piece was created as an interoffice prompt to remind people not to hinder the production process by inserting themselves into projects when they were not needed, and to avoid being overly critical of things based on their own preferences.
Different from an animation I wanted to try making an animated illustration and this was the end result. The dramatic moment where two foes first meet.
So on top of enjoying making 8bit art. I also love bringing my artwork to life in every way possible. It is for that reason that I animated the angry little tank cat. I have also begun plans to start putting together a side-scroller style video game in this same style in my spare time.
Pretty self explanatory. This was a design I did for a food truck during my time living in Atlanta, GA. i had a great time working on this piece and digging into food truck culture.
